Meeting Beatrix Bosch...

Beatrix's works are characterized by her flair for abstraction in design, bright in colour and open in composition - inclined to lead the eye beyond the limits of the her medium into a world of unexpected textures thatdraw you in...

Working exclusively in leather, Beatrix is noted for producing meticulously handmade installation works that make a powerful statement and her unique artworks have been inspiring the world since 1969.

AWARDS & ACCOLADES
She won the Hajee Suliman Ebrahim Memorial Trust Award on Art South Africa Today in 1975 for her contribution to contemporary South African art.

While Beatrix Bosch’s reputation as one of the foremost artists of South Africa has been long established, her work has been rarely seen in recent years as she focussed on dealing with the long term illness of her husband. Following his death in 2010, Beatrix began working on a selection of exciting new works that are filled with colour, celebrating the amazing textures of the leathers that define her work.

The technique originated and developed by the artist herself, has brought her international acclaim over the past four decades. Her works are sought after by private as well as corporate collectors, the public sector, interior designers and architects around the globe.

Beatrix’s passion and vision, strong sense of colour and texture transforms the leather medium into sophisticated designs. Her largest work, Prelude which is 3m x 27m; hangs in the State Theatre in Pretoria.
